In October 2025, Google introduced Gemini for Home, launched “vibe coding” in AI Studio and rolled out new AI-powered cybersecurity features—bringing AI deeper into homes, dev tools and threat defence.
Google’s official recap, “The latest AI news we announced in October,” paints a picture of AI moving simultaneously into living rooms, developer tooling and cybersecurity. Three themes stand out: Gemini for Home, vibe coding in AI Studio and new protections against digital threats.
Gemini for Home represents Google’s most explicit step yet toward an AI-native smart home. Replacing the classic Google Assistant on supported devices, Gemini for Home serves as a unified conversational interface for lights, thermostats, speakers, TVs and more. Instead of scripted voice commands, users can give higher-level instructions such as “Set up movie night,” which might dim the lights, close blinds, configure the TV and adjust the thermostat. For developers, the headline is vibe coding in AI Studio, a new way to build AI-powered applications that blends natural language prompts with configuration controls. Rather than manually wiring prompts, tools and parameters, developers can describe the “vibe” of the app they want—tone, guardrails, risk appetite, monetisation model—and let AI Studio draft a first version of the agent, including suggested flows and prompts.
